Phoenix Games is going out of business

I heard the rumor and so went to Phoenix Games yesterday on my way home from work. Although I am doing my best to keep from crying. They are going out of business.

The rent for their shop on Lake Street has doubled in the last 5 years. He just can't afford to stay. So he is having a clearance sale.

20% off (for brand new RPG releases)
35% off (for miniatures, RPG games older than 1 month and all board games)
50% off (for older release materials and tons of other things.)

Things are clearing out quick so if we want to stock up on materials... now would be the time.

The owner is setting up an all on-line business since about 40% of his current business is on line. He is guaranteeing that he will beat the price of other "game retailers" in the cities.

Damn. That's too bad.

He really does have better prices than other shops that I've seen, at least from a miniatures point of view.

Example: The "Deva Angel" (Dark Heavens line I think) miniature cost an average of 16.00, but his online store is only 11.50.. that's pretty huge.

I might be getting stuff from him in the future.

Still, that sucks about them closing. I used to peruse that area a lot when I lived in uptown, especially with Dreamhaven across the street..

Apparently Dreamhaven is staying. He owns his building and so his mortgage is the same (plus the assessment for the work on Lake street).

If people want to try and make a run some time VERY soon. That would be cool.

P.S. Jooj, bought two creature minatures for you to paint :)
